When we think of video editing on a PC, we automatically think of complicated programmes that produce almost professional results, such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, or Pinnacle Studio, and we sometimes overlook the average consumer who just wants to do a small edit and isn’t interested in the advanced features that the previous products can have.
And nothing beats a walk-around video editor like this Windows Movie Maker for those times. Since its introduction for Windows ME to the most recent Windows 10, it has helped many less experienced users in the field of video editing. The product has been out of production since 2012, but this most recent version is the best of it all (far superior to Movie Maker 2.1 or 2.6), and it still runs on most modern operating systems.
You will be able to perform acts such as the following from a very basic, sober, and clean interface that has barely evolved through the various versions:
Use pictures or other videos to make your own movies or animations.
Importing video, still images, or audio is possible.
Music can be added from our library or downloaded from online services.
Use a webcam to record video and a microphone to record audio narration.
Drag and drop frames on a timeline to change the order in which they appear in a video.
Make the narration, music, or video louder or quieter.
Image effects, transitions, and subtitles or labels may all be added.
Add credit titles to identify the protagonists, director, recording location, or composer of our tape’s soundtrack.
Before you finish your videos, take a look at them.
Save your creations locally, send them via email, or upload them to the cloud.
Where can I get a copy of Windows Movie Maker? What is the name of your executable?
You’ve probably tried everything you can think of to find an installation file for this software and come up empty-handed. Since it is part of the Windows Live Essentials utility kit, it does not exist as a standalone programme. You can still download the 2012 edition of this programme from Microsoft’s official website by using the link given in our download button.
When you run the file, you can choose to install all of the programmes included in it, such as Messenger, Mail, Writer, and OneDrive, or you can choose to install the components one by one. Photo Gallery and Movie Maker are packaged together in this scenario. All that’s left to do now is press Install and wait a few moments for the process to finish.
If you want to keep using Movie Maker 2012, you’ll have to act quickly because Microsoft has already revealed that it will stop providing it for free in January 2017, replacing it with a much more modern version available via the Windows Store.
Additional knowledge and requirements:
It is not compatible with Windows XP or older versions of Windows.
